Trend Micro ScanMail Suite Extends Benefits of Immediate Protection With Less Complexity to Lotus™ Domino™ 8.5

Trend Micro announced today a new release of ScanMail™ Suite for Lotus Domino -- newly equipped with Web reputation, a component of the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™ that analyzes Web traffic and blocks malicious traffic coming from or going into business networks. Trend Micro ScanMail Suite for Lotus Domino 5.0 offers superior, immediate, easy-to-manage email server security for the growing number of customers who are reaping the benefits of IBM Lotus Domino.

Today’s aggressive, subversive email threats demand powerful, multi-layered messaging security to protect workgroup collaboration environments like Lotus Domino. The ScanMail Suite for Lotus Domino protects against viruses and other malware within email attachments and databases; it stops spam, messages with links to malicious sites and sensitive content.
With this new release, Web reputation adds another powerful layer of real-time security that is powered by the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network and uses an “in-the-cloud” reputation database so that threats are blocked before they reach the network. The Smart Protection Network checks, in real time, the reputation of URLs embedded within messages to determine whether email messages are legitimate or malicious – and, if malicious, blocks them before they reach end users.
“Back in the early ‘90s, we didn’t see many virus attacks but by the time we moved to Lotus Notes for email, an increase was noticeable,” explained Cindy Harrison, project leader and information services analyst at Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. . “We had a well-known antivirus software solution, but we were not getting timely incident reports and virus protection was sometimes causing our email servers to crash. Switching over to Trend Micro meant we had a partner that could help us evolve our security solutions and keep ahead of the threats that could severely impact our operations and business.”
ScanMail also scans for viruses and spyware within email attachments and databases. The comprehensive ScanMail Suite stops the latest spam, phishing, and blended threats, while filtering content to prevent data theft and loss.
